The last thing you see just before you are eaten by a donkey

Yesterday, I went to visit some friends who have donkeys. Very cute, extremely curious donkeys.

Naturally, the camera came out.

Things started out innocently enough, with the three of them coming over to say hi. (Note, I was sitting on a log for these pictures... the donkey are really only about 12 hh tall)

But then, they got closer...

... and closer...

... and... EEEEK!

Fortunately, they spared me (after I stood up) and went after my water bottle instead. It will bear the scars from their teeth for the rest of its days.

Red Jumping lesson Aug 21

Last weekend, the hubby and I went to a jumping lesson with Paige over at Corragio H/J. It's been a while since we've jumped, but the foxhunting season starts in less than a month and we're trying to get the boys fit and ourselves back into it.

Here's the video from the hubby jumping Red.

They started out working on keeping the heels down and leg underneath you (instead of way, way back) over the fence, and then progressed on to staying upright in the 2-point all the way to the landing. You can see early on in the video that the hubby is sitting up on the way down, and then later on Paige has him grabbing mane to help keep him in 2-point for longer.

I'd just like to point out what an awesome boy Red is, going straight to the fence on loopy reins and jumping like a champ every time. He may be short, but he is mighty!

::twitch::

In my never-ending quest to find music for a dressage freestyle that I will someday perform (really, I swear!), I figured out that walk, canter, and piaffe/passage can be done to the Macarena.

We won't talk about how or why I figured this out, or why I was listening to the Macarena in the first place. Let's focus on the important stuff here - merely that I did actually manage to determine that this is, indeed, a viable piece, because it's around 90 beats per minute - the rate at which most horses canter and walk.

And since Foxfire was so completely thrilled with the concept of riding to the Macarena, I decided to make a short video to prove the efficacy of using said music for the walk and canter portions a freestyle (seeing as how we can't do a piaffe or passage).

My only goal is to make you twitch, Foxfire. :)

P.S. In case you're wondering, no, I have NO INTENTION of creating a freestyle that includes the Macarena. Well, probably not anyway...
